As you know we have planned to attend the Ed Perlmutter and Jared Polis Housing Fair event tomorrow, August 22nd in Thornton, Co.

According to Barack Obama’s Organize for America this is in fact a Healthcare Town Hall and not a Fair Housing Event.

It seems Perlmutter and Polis were trying to sneak one past us.

Surprised?

Some attentive people noticed this and have passed the info on.

Specifically the Tea Party of Northern Colorado and Lu Ann Busse of the 9.12 Project.

According to the information they have gathered 242 Organizing for America members plan to attend.

That being the case it is more important than ever that we have a presence.

If you were on the fence about attending this rally, jump off that fence and join us tomorrow (Saturday, August 22nd) at 8:00 AM.

Margaret Carpenter Recreation Center 11151 Colorado Blvd. Thornton, CO 80233

I will be there no later than 7:00 AM.

Bring your signs, bring your voices, and bring your passion.

The Congressional recess will be coming to an end soon, these events present a great opportunity to allow us to make our opposition to nationalized health care known.

Refuse to be silent, refuse to roll over and simply allow the over reaching hand of government reach out and crush you.

See you tomorrow.

According to those manning the phones at the Polis and Perlmutter offices this is a ‘Fair Housing Event’.

Read the following Organizing for America email and decide for yourself.

I wanted to send you an urgent invitation to an important public event with Rep. Ed Perlmutter and Rep. Jared Polis this Saturday, August 22nd.
They’ll be talking to constituents and gathering feedback. Whether you ask a question or show your support with a sign, attending this meeting is a powerful way to show where you stand and thank those in Congress who are fighting for reform.

Coffee With Congressman Jared Polis In Boulder, Colorado

Hear Us Now as well as other groups and individuals had spent the last couple of days alerting people that Colorado District 2 Congressman Jared Polis would be holding a Town Hall/Congress on Your Corner event this morning.

Let me quickly note, all we did was notify people of the event. Nothing was organized, no suggestions were made as to questions to be asked, signs to carry, etc.

We (Hear Us Now) only notified that the event would be taking place.

It seems that this event, which was held at a Boulder, Colorado coffee house was a success. Far more successful than Congressman Polis had expected, hoped for or wished for.

Daily Camera headline: Hundreds of people wait to speak to congressman at Vic’s Coffee.

U.S. Rep. Jared Polis, D-Boulder, was swarmed by people Friday morning when he dropped by the Vic’s coffee shop in north Boulder, expecting a friendly chat with a couple dozen constituents.

But the event, the first of a series of meetings dubbed “Congress on Your Corner,” drew hundreds of people, many with health care issues on their minds.[…]

Polis spent nearly two hours dug in behind a table set up on the sidewalk outside the popular morning coffee shop, and a crowd of people jostled around him, waiting to ask a question and straining — hands cupped to their ears — to hear his answers.

“He basically hid from us,” said Richard McCurdy, who had given up on talking to Polis. “He passed out cards and didn’t let us speak out in a real town hall.”

To his credit Jared Polis had a much better verbal response to the size and enthusiasm of the crowd than have many of his fellow congress persons.

Mr. Polis said:

“This is what democracy is all about,” Polis said as he left, already late for his next appointment. “I did a lot of listening, a little bit of talking, and it’s great to see this kind of engagement.”
