Cost Of Government Day

Posted on 19 August 2010 by hearus

Today, August 19th is Cost of Government Day.

Americans for Tax Reform the Center for Fiscal Accountability have released their 2010 Cost of Government Day report.

Cogd2010cover

Center for Fiscal Accountability

In 2010, Cost of Government Day falls on August 19.  Working people must toil 231 days out of the year just to meet all costs imposed by government - 8 days later than last year and a full 32 days longer than 2008.

In other words, in 2010 the cost of government consumes 63.41 percent of national income.

You may view the PDF of the report by clicking here.

Let us not forget that this report speaks only to the cost of the federal government and does not include the cost of state, county and city.

Still Working For Freedom

Posted on 29 July 2010 by hearus

This post is a follow up to an earlier post meant to hopefully encourage you to hook up with some of your local political candidates, volunteering with their campaigns and helping them over the finish line. freedomwork

No matter how great a candidate might be, NOTHING changes in your city, your county, this state or this nation unless you and I are involved and active.

All the rallies, all the meetings we’ve attended… none of it means anything if we are not willing to get involved in the actual process.

Below you will find a list of candidates, contact information and some of the campaigns volunteer needs.

The list is not comprehensive, that is, not all possible candidates are listed due the amount of time it would take to add all possible candidates verses the amount of time I have to do so.

The fact that a candidates name appears on the list below should not be considered an endorsement.

2nd Annual Grassroots Get Together

Posted on 12 July 2010 by hearus

Picnic table

Image via Wikipedia

We all love this nation dearly and know ourselves to be blessed to live here.We know we are not alone in our love for this nation, we know we are not alone in our desire to defend her from an over reaching government which is perhaps in some areas even a government of malevolence seeking to fulfill it’s own desires, will and agenda causing harm to the nation.

Harm to it’s citizens.

So many of us just a year and a half ago were outraged at what we saw the outgoing administration had done and what the new administration was preparing to do.

Yet many of us didn’t know what we could possibly do about.

Then came the Tea Party followed by the 9.12 Project and many other pro-liberty organizations.

As a side note, let us not forget that before the Tea Parties and 912 groups, there were already pro-liberty groups established and in place doing some important work.

The Independence Institute for example.

Last year on July 4th, Hear Us Now hosted a Grassroots Get Together in Arvada.

This year we join with Colorado Faith and Freedom Coalition, Colorado Tea Party and Arapahoe Tea Party in hosting the 2nd Annual Grassroots Get Together.

Saturday, July 24
10:00am – 2:00pm
Big Dry Creek Park
1700 West 128th Avenue
Westminster, CO

There will be a number of Pro-liberty organizations in attendance with booths and tables setup.

A number of candidates seeking election will be in attendance as well.

This is a time for patriot to meet patriot, network with each other and establish some patriotic friendships.

It is also a time for Pro-liberty organizations to introduce themselves and for candidates to meet those people involved in the grassroots movement.

A time for us to get to know each other, to get to know those who stand with us and are of like mind. To meet those who join us in our concern and defense of this nation and it’s founding principles.

A time for us to get to know the various Pro-liberty groups and find those groups that we’d like to support in their efforts.

And finally, it is a time to get to better know the various candidates in a less formal setting.

This is a pot luck style picnic.

We ask that all who are able, bring some kind of food item with them.

One of the following food items are suggested:

  • Hotdogs
  • Hotdog buns
  • Hamburger patties
  • Hamburger buns
  • Ketchup/mustard
  • Chips

Please bring your own drink.

We will gather all of the food items under the park Pavilion, cook them on the grill and share the food with each other.

If you are unable to bring a food item, please join us anyway.

The Inconvenient Sunny Roseman will be our Emcee.

An RSVP is appreciated but is not necessary.

You may RSVP in one of two ways:

Via Facebook or by emailing gettogether@hearus-now.org

Western Conservative Summit – Tea Party Panel

Posted on 12 July 2010 by hearus

The embedded video is of Hear Us Now Vice-Chairman Charles Patricoff and his portion of the Tea Party discussion panel during this past weekends Western Conservative Summit.

The Western Conservative Summit was, by the way, a great success.

We are in the midst of one of the strongest Pro-liberty movements this nation has ever witnessed.

During that time we’ve seen many great events that help focus and motivate patriots.

In my opinion, the Western Conservative Summit is among the most successful and important events that have so far taken place in Colorado.

However, just as with any event, none of it means one thing if those who attended just go home and do nothing.

You have to take the powerful and important information and resources you took in at the Summit and make use of that information and those resources.

You must make use of those connections you made with people and organizations that you made during the Summit.

We were so honored to be asked to be a part of the Summit and we were honored to meet so many patriots who are working to once again Right this nation and Right the state of Colorado.

Thank you to Bill Armstrong, John Andrews, the whole of the Centennial Institute and CCU.

It was a great event and we cannot wait until The Western Conservative Summit 2011!

Original expectations were for 250 people to be in attendance. Final attendance exceeded 750 attendees!

A quick mention of some of the many groups involved in making the weekend a success.
