Colorado Tea Party – A New Beginning

Posted on 02 July 2010 by hearus

One of the first Denver metro Tea Party groups, that I know of, to come along shortly after Hear Us Now organized it’s first Tea Party (02.27.09), was the Colorado Tea Party.

Formed March 8th 2009 by Anthony Gillis.

Since this nation wide pro liberty movement, known as the Tea Party began, the Colorado Tea Party has been on the front lines here in Colorado.

Colorado Tea Party is, by the way, the real Colorado Tea Party. There is currently another group going by the same name.

Their purpose for doing so is unknown to myself, and while they perhaps may turn out to be a group which does some good things it cannot help but to be noticed that they have in fact chosen to organize under a name that has been in use since March of 2009.

With the name comes a reputation not their own, but one which was established by the hard work and effort of others.

Now, back to the purpose of this post.

The real Colorado Tea Party has recently under gone some leadership changes and I would like to share with you a message the group has sent out and either introduce you for the first time or reintroduce you (whichever the case maybe) to the real Colorado Tea Party.

Visit their site and join them on Facebook as well.

Patriots,
You will begin to notice some changes to the Colorado Tea Party in the near future. We are going through a reorganization to help Colorado storm the November elections. Time is of the essence, and these changes will be happening as soon as we can implement them. If you haven’t heard already, Rasmussen Reports announced  that our state leads the nation in percentage of Tea Partiers with 33% of Coloradans identifying themselves with the movement. Our goal is to provide those in the state with the tools they need to implement freedom and take our country back.

As you know, Tony Gillis founded our organization on March 8, 2009. However, recently he found that he didn’t have the time to serve as coordinator, so he has stepped down and asked Johnny to run the organization.

Our Colorado Tea Party is the original and recognized as the real Colorado Tea Party by the activists in the state.

John is a husband, father and small business owner. He joined the Broomfield 9.12 Project in November 2009. He has a passion for defending our country and really enjoys working with people, and feels proud to be a patriot. He was on the statewide leadership council for the Liberty Caucus 2010, which successfully focused on getting as many liberty lovers elected as delegates as possible.

He joined the Colorado Tea Party in January 2010. He was elected to the position of Vice President of the Broomfield 9.12 project in April 2010, because of his positive energy and commitment to our founding fathers vision.

John will be working with Grace who has kept things running for the last year.
“I am the mother of two and the grandmother of two. I have spent many years organizing and coordinating activities and organizations. I love this group. It is a privilege to be a part of it.

Meeting the members and finding out their interests and passions is just so much fun. Even though we have serious work ahead of us, the laughter and brightness of the members gives life new meaning. Johnny is a joy.

I am grateful for his leadership and partnership. We are at a point where members are going to be taking the lead and Johnny and I can stand back and let go.”

Joining Johnny and Grace in the reorganization will be Kathy Baker.

Kathy was one of the original members of the Evergreen/Conifer Tea Party and served as a co-organizer of the group for the last year.

The Evergreen/Conifer Tea Party received national attention when the group was asked to speak at the first National Tea Party Convention in February.

She also works for American Majority and will be setting up trainings for our organization in grassroots activism, precinct power, and social media.

In addition to these roles, she serves on the board of Hear Us Now! (the Denver Tax Day Tea Party organizers) and as the Denver Conservative Examiner for Examiner.com.
Some of the changes you will be seeing immediately are:

• A new Twitter account: ColoradoTParty. Please follow us for the latest news in the movement in the state and nation.
• From now on we will be turning off Meetup reminders when we schedule Meetups. We are also turning off the "Idea" option, and we ask everyone to use the message boards for discussion.
• Consistent communication from our organization on state legislative issues, state races, and national action alerts.
• Contact to each of our members on established liberty groups in their geographic areas they may join to work at the local level. (There are 1100 of you, so please be patient if we do not contact you immediately. :-) )
• Updated calendar of events statewide. If you know of any events not listed, please email us for posting. Please also visit www.libertyevents.org for a listing of events statewide.
• A strong cooperation with other liberty groups statewide.
• Training on registering voters and a statewide voter registration drive.
• Identifying those areas in the state where Tea Parties need to be formed.
• And much, much more!
Let freedom ring!

Independence Day Tea Party Patriotic Celebration Is Just Around The Corner!

Posted on 29 June 2009 by hearus

Hello fellow proud, patriotic, concerned Americans!

Believe it or not this coming Saturday is July the 4th, 233rd Anniversary this nations independence.

In years past, we gathered on this date with family and friends, as Americans who loved their nation and we celebrated its greatness. This July 4th we do the same, but we come together for another reason as well.

We come together with an additional purpose.

This July 4th we will come together in celebration and in defense of our nation.

We come together to meet each other, to encourage each other in the task at hand and begin to layout plans to wrest our nation back from the hands of an out of control government.

We meet with purpose of beginning the process of re-establishing your freedoms, my freedoms, and guaranteeing a strong future of freedom for our children and our children’s children.

Before the 4th we want to catch everyone up on what is planned and what is needed.

As noted in previous messages this is a pot luck picnic.

We ask all who are able to bring items that may be shared with all attendees.

To keep the menu simple we are specifically requesting hot dogs, buns, condiments, chips and bottled water.

Please bring any food you would need for yourself and your family just in case we run out that way everyone is covered.

Bring your own paper plates, silverware, napkins.

Coolers with ice will also be needed.

Pulled pork sandwiches will also be available as well.

The pulled pork was an expensive endeavor taken on by one person so there will be a charge of $1.00 per sandwich.

We will cook the food and serve it.

The food will be served from 1:30 PM until 4:00 PM.

Any food that remains after the event will be donated to the Denver Rescue Mission.

There will be volley ball, horse shoes and tug of war.

There will be various speakers through out the day including Brian T Campbell Sr and Jon Caldera, as well as some open mic time for you.

A Voter Registration Drive will also take place.

If you are not registered to vote we will get you set up to take an active part in the election process.

We are working on a specific schedule of events, but know that the format for this event is much looser and more fluid than the previous two Tea Parties that took place at the State Capitol.

Lastly there are some people who have taken a decent amount of money from their wallet to make sure this event took place. There will be one or two donation containers that we ask you please place a couple of dollars in if you are able. The donations are simply an attempt to return a portion of the money to persons who did things such as purchase the park permit, etc…

Thanks to all, many of you really got involved and truly made this your event, assuring that it remains grassroots.

We look forward to a great day.

Independence Day Tea Party Patriotic Celebration-Reminders, Updates

Posted on 17 June 2009 by hearus

I’m sure everyone has taken notice of the fireworks stands popping up all over the Denver metro area. This can mean only one thing, the Independence Day Tea Party Patriotic Celebration will take place soon!

I’m posting this note just to remind everyone of a few things.

  • It’s important that as many people as possible let us know their intentions to attend. Anyone can attend, even if they don’t let us know, but it will make things go a little smoother if we have a good idea about the numbers.
  • We are asking all who are able to bring items such as hot dogs, buns and, or water. We will of course need condiments as well. If you would like to bring chips or a side dish that would be great too. I suppose the descriptive term so far as the picnic side of the event goes could be ‘hot dog pot luck picnic’. If you are not able to bring any food items, don’t worry about it and don’t let that stop you from attending.
  • No alcohol is allowed in the park so please do not bring any alcoholic beverages.
  • If you are going to bring food items, please contact us and let us know what you will be bringing and how much. This will help us in determining remaining needs.

Remember this IS your event. This IS YOUR Tea Party, YOUR celebration. It is going to take all of us to make it a success.

This is our time to come together, celebrate our nations founding. It’s a time to get together, meet each other, discuss the issues concerning us and begin to work together to find solutions.

Thanks to one and all.

We look forward to meeting everyone and joining together with you to reclaim our nation.

The Independence Day Celebration is coming together!

Included in the days events will be a traditional 4th of July cook out!

It is a great day to bring like minded individuals together for a coalition building event where we can all get to know one another a little better.

We encourage all to bring family and friends to celebrate our Nation’s birthday and the freedoms that have made our nation great.

If anyone can donate or bring the needed items to make this event a success call Brian @ 720.413.3940 or Keith @ 303.834.5729.

This is your event, your Tea Party, your celebration. We will need your assistance to make it a success.
