| One of the first Denver metro Tea Party groups, that I know of, to come along shortly after Hear Us Now organized it’s first Tea Party (02.27.09), was the Colorado Tea Party.
Formed March 8th 2009 by Anthony Gillis. |

Since this nation wide pro liberty movement, known as the Tea Party began, the Colorado Tea Party has been on the front lines here in Colorado.
Colorado Tea Party is, by the way, the real Colorado Tea Party. There is currently another group going by the same name.
Their purpose for doing so is unknown to myself, and while they perhaps may turn out to be a group which does some good things it cannot help but to be noticed that they have in fact chosen to organize under a name that has been in use since March of 2009.
With the name comes a reputation not their own, but one which was established by the hard work and effort of others.
Now, back to the purpose of this post.
The real Colorado Tea Party has recently under gone some leadership changes and I would like to share with you a message the group has sent out and either introduce you for the first time or reintroduce you (whichever the case maybe) to the real Colorado Tea Party.
Visit their site and join them on Facebook as well.
Patriots,
You will begin to notice some changes to the Colorado Tea Party in the near future. We are going through a reorganization to help Colorado storm the November elections. Time is of the essence, and these changes will be happening as soon as we can implement them. If you haven’t heard already, Rasmussen Reports announced that our state leads the nation in percentage of Tea Partiers with 33% of Coloradans identifying themselves with the movement. Our goal is to provide those in the state with the tools they need to implement freedom and take our country back.As you know, Tony Gillis founded our organization on March 8, 2009. However, recently he found that he didn’t have the time to serve as coordinator, so he has stepped down and asked Johnny to run the organization.
Our Colorado Tea Party is the original and recognized as the real Colorado Tea Party by the activists in the state.
John is a husband, father and small business owner. He joined the Broomfield 9.12 Project in November 2009. He has a passion for defending our country and really enjoys working with people, and feels proud to be a patriot. He was on the statewide leadership council for the Liberty Caucus 2010, which successfully focused on getting as many liberty lovers elected as delegates as possible.
He joined the Colorado Tea Party in January 2010. He was elected to the position of Vice President of the Broomfield 9.12 project in April 2010, because of his positive energy and commitment to our founding fathers vision.
John will be working with Grace who has kept things running for the last year.
“I am the mother of two and the grandmother of two. I have spent many years organizing and coordinating activities and organizations. I love this group. It is a privilege to be a part of it.Meeting the members and finding out their interests and passions is just so much fun. Even though we have serious work ahead of us, the laughter and brightness of the members gives life new meaning. Johnny is a joy.
I am grateful for his leadership and partnership. We are at a point where members are going to be taking the lead and Johnny and I can stand back and let go.”
Joining Johnny and Grace in the reorganization will be Kathy Baker.
Kathy was one of the original members of the Evergreen/Conifer Tea Party and served as a co-organizer of the group for the last year.
The Evergreen/Conifer Tea Party received national attention when the group was asked to speak at the first National Tea Party Convention in February.
She also works for American Majority and will be setting up trainings for our organization in grassroots activism, precinct power, and social media.
In addition to these roles, she serves on the board of Hear Us Now! (the Denver Tax Day Tea Party organizers) and as the Denver Conservative Examiner for Examiner.com.
Some of the changes you will be seeing immediately are:• A new Twitter account: ColoradoTParty. Please follow us for the latest news in the movement in the state and nation.
• From now on we will be turning off Meetup reminders when we schedule Meetups. We are also turning off the "Idea" option, and we ask everyone to use the message boards for discussion.
• Consistent communication from our organization on state legislative issues, state races, and national action alerts.
• Contact to each of our members on established liberty groups in their geographic areas they may join to work at the local level. (There are 1100 of you, so please be patient if we do not contact you immediately.)
• Updated calendar of events statewide. If you know of any events not listed, please email us for posting. Please also visit www.libertyevents.org for a listing of events statewide.
• A strong cooperation with other liberty groups statewide.
• Training on registering voters and a statewide voter registration drive.
• Identifying those areas in the state where Tea Parties need to be formed.
• And much, much more!
Let freedom ring!
Johnny & Grace
