ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis made a foolish appearance on Fox New Sunday along side Congressman Darrell Issa (R-Ca).
I say a foolish appearance because she made the case for ACORN much weaker than it already was.
Representative Issa asked Bertha Lewis to go before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
The congressman asked:
“If you’re gonna change this; will you come before Chairman Towns, a man who by the way voted not to cut off your funding, and give the kind of disclosure to where the Government Oversight and Reform Committee could know that you are doing work with firewalls, as you say, so the American people know that their dollars don’t end up doing political activities prohibited by law?”
Lewis was anything but committal.
One of the stops President Obama made on his tour of Sunday morning shows was This Week With George Stephanopolus.
The following, very brief conversation took place.
A conversation in which Obama feigns ignorance over the amount of funding ACORN receives.
The president further informs the American public, that he isn’t “paying a lot of attention” to the current situation with ACORN and indicates that the topic isn’t really worth talking about.
STEPHANOPOULOS: But if you’re – have some of your allies made it easier for — handed your opponents some ammunition, like ACORN, for example…
OBAMA: Well, look, the — you know, I think that — are there folks in the Democratic camp or on the left who haven’t — haven’t always operated ways that I’d appreciate?
Absolutely.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Congress has just cut off…
OBAMA: Is — is…
STEPHANOPOULOS: …all funding for ACORN.
OBAMA: It’s…
STEPHANOPOULOS: Are you for that?
OBAMA: Is that true on the other side, as well?
Of course that’s true.
STEPHANOPOULOS: How about the funding for ACORN?
OBAMA: You know, if — frankly, it’s not really something I’ve followed closely. I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Both the Senate and the House have voted to cut it off.
OBAMA: You know, what I know is, is that what I saw on that video was certainly inappropriate and deserves to be investigated.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So you’re not committing to — to cut off the federal funding?
OBAMA: George, this is not the biggest issue facing the country. It’s not something I’m paying a lot of attention to.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Afghanistan is a big issue facing the country right now.
OBAMA: That is a big issue. That’s worth talking about.
