31 Unoppossed In Colorado

Posted on 20 February 2012 by hearus

State Bill Colorado reports that of the seats in the Colorado legislature which are up for election, thirty-one have a single candidate. You can view the list here.

How is it, in this day of Tea Party groups and various Liberty organizations, that so many candidates are running unopposed? Is the level of satisfaction with legislators such as Rollie Heath, or Kathleen Conti at such a high degree of satisfaction, that a challenge is not needed?

I understand that a Republican or Libertarian running against the Mr. Heath’s of Colorado, have very little chance of winning. Is that to stop us? Are we the movement filled with folks who stop at the base of a mountain, determine it is too difficult to climb, then turn and return home?

Or are we the movement that determines ourselves to do the impossible?

Are we the movement that has found ourselves the solitary force in America desiring to reclaim our cities, counties, states, and nation as a whole? Aren’t we the movement that was going to "save" America from the crushing grip of government? If we are that movement, how do we allow Rollie Heath to run unopposed.

Granted, some folks are not suited to neither run or serve in political office.

I happen to be one of those folks myself, I’m better suited to be a pest and poke at festering sores within government.

However it is impossible that there is not one single person in any of these districts who is not capable of serving in the Colorado State legislature, and serving well.

Are you that possible candidate?

Do you know someone who could be, should be, that candidate?

Can you, will you, run? Do you know someone who you think might be a good Senator or Representative?

Colorado Governor Hickenlooper Responds To The SOTU Speech

Posted on 25 January 2012 by hearus

Nothing surprising here.

The Governor posted his response on the Colorado government website and Facebook.

His statement was also featured on the White House website.

The response, encapsulated; Kumbya, and rah, rah, rah.

Oh, and something about handcuffs…

“The President tonight hit a tone about working together that is familiar to Coloradans. People here know that partisanship is a significant roadblock to partnership. We must use collaboration as a means to finding solutions to keep pushing our state and our country closer to full economic recovery.

“We join the President in the pursuit of unnecessary regulations that handcuff aspiring entrepreneurs, and we applaud his support of great teachers and our nation’s military.

“We were also encouraged to hear the President talk so much about clean energy, as Colorado is leading the nation when it comes to renewable energy research and development. Many of the new jobs the President talked for this industry will be created in Colorado – and we are ready.”

Michael Moore Occupies Denver

Posted on 03 November 2011 by hearus

Michael Moore, in Denver for a book signing, dropped by Occupy Denver late Thursday afternoon.

From the time I arrived at about 3:00 PM, to the time Mr. Moore arrived, about 5:10 PM, the crowd had tripled in size.

mm

I do have video, but the quality isn’t great.

Instead I have extracted the audio for you to listen to.

Keep an eye on Who Said, You Said, as Kelly will have quality video and commentary up soon.

About 500 people formed a circle which Mr. Moore parted like a fat Moses parting the Red Sea.

The crowd chanted his name for 30 seconds or more before he began to speak.

He easily convinced the crowd that the Occupy Movement is the most successful movement in American history.

More successful than the suffrage movement, more successful than the Civil Rights movement.

To end his 20 some minute speech, he warned the crowd that there may be provocateurs from the police and Homeland Security among them, who are present to incite violence.

You can hear Mr. Moore addressing Occupy Denver through the audio links below.

I’ve cut the whole into four separate pieces to make for shorter snippets. All his speech is present, none of it has been edited out.
