A Mob Mentality I can Get Behind

Posted on 22 February 2012 by hearus

While the Occupy movement demands the wealth of others is redistributed to them, as they fill our streets, defecate in our parks, and hinder local business, other folks have begun a mob of their own.

A cash mob.

CW2

You’ve probably heard of or seen flash mobs. They’re those groups of people that seemingly erupt into spontaneous dance in public places.
Flash mobs have evolved into “cash mobs,” and instead of dancing they’re spending cold, hard cash to support local businesses.
A cash mob occurred in Fort Collins Tuesday night.

This is how you redistribute wealth.

This is a mob mentality I can get behind!

31 Unoppossed In Colorado

Posted on 20 February 2012 by hearus

State Bill Colorado reports that of the seats in the Colorado legislature which are up for election, thirty-one have a single candidate. You can view the list here.

How is it, in this day of Tea Party groups and various Liberty organizations, that so many candidates are running unopposed? Is the level of satisfaction with legislators such as Rollie Heath, or Kathleen Conti at such a high degree of satisfaction, that a challenge is not needed?

I understand that a Republican or Libertarian running against the Mr. Heath’s of Colorado, have very little chance of winning. Is that to stop us? Are we the movement filled with folks who stop at the base of a mountain, determine it is too difficult to climb, then turn and return home?

Or are we the movement that determines ourselves to do the impossible?

Are we the movement that has found ourselves the solitary force in America desiring to reclaim our cities, counties, states, and nation as a whole? Aren’t we the movement that was going to "save" America from the crushing grip of government? If we are that movement, how do we allow Rollie Heath to run unopposed.

Granted, some folks are not suited to neither run or serve in political office.

I happen to be one of those folks myself, I’m better suited to be a pest and poke at festering sores within government.

However it is impossible that there is not one single person in any of these districts who is not capable of serving in the Colorado State legislature, and serving well.

Are you that possible candidate?

Do you know someone who could be, should be, that candidate?

Can you, will you, run? Do you know someone who you think might be a good Senator or Representative?

Happy Anniversary Sukas! We Have The Government We Deserve.

Posted on 17 February 2012 by hearus

Three years ago today, right here in Denver Colorado, president Barack Obama signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Jobs were going to appear from the ether, like manna from heaven.

Yet the work force has shrunk, which is why the unemployment rate can be said to have declined.

A minimum of two million Americans were to be “lifted” from poverty.  Yet, conservatively, six million more Americans have fallen into poverty.

I could, but do not have the time or desire, demonstrate in this posting, the abject failure that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is.

There is little point in doing so.

We all know it, we all see it. Even those who supported it, though few have admitted it, know it has failed.

Even President Obama acknowledged at least a portion of the over all failure, “shovel ready was not as shovel ready as we expected.”

See, state by state, how the stimulus funds have been used.

So, my point here, despite the charts above, is not to demonstrate that the stimulus is a failure.

My point is that we, as American citizens, are failures. Perhaps not you as an individual within your everyday life, but as a whole, the majority of us are failures as citizens.

How did we get to where we are now?

By way of the American citizen failing.

How did an, at best Democratic Socialist (in the European sense of the term) and at worst a Marxist, become president of this nation.

By way of the American citizen failing.

How did both the House and the Senate become populated by liars, thieves, and con-men?

By way of the American citizen failing.

We now have the nation that you and I built.

You are responsible.

I am responsible.

We broke it.

If it is to be repaired, you and I are going to have to fix it.

—————————————————————

Now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress.

If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption.

President James A. Garfield

Centennial address to Congress, 1876.

Colorado Governor Hickenlooper Responds To The SOTU Speech

Posted on 25 January 2012 by hearus

Nothing surprising here.

The Governor posted his response on the Colorado government website and Facebook.

His statement was also featured on the White House website.

The response, encapsulated; Kumbya, and rah, rah, rah.

Oh, and something about handcuffs…

“The President tonight hit a tone about working together that is familiar to Coloradans. People here know that partisanship is a significant roadblock to partnership. We must use collaboration as a means to finding solutions to keep pushing our state and our country closer to full economic recovery.

“We join the President in the pursuit of unnecessary regulations that handcuff aspiring entrepreneurs, and we applaud his support of great teachers and our nation’s military.

“We were also encouraged to hear the President talk so much about clean energy, as Colorado is leading the nation when it comes to renewable energy research and development. Many of the new jobs the President talked for this industry will be created in Colorado – and we are ready.”
